Dr. Frank Cheng, PT, DPT Physical Therapist

Born and raised in Southern California, Dr. Frank Cheng developed a strong passion for health, fitness, and athletics from an early age. Growing up playing basketball and staying active through sports helped shape his appreciation for movement, performance, and recovery. What initially drew him to sports rehabilitation eventually expanded into a deeper understanding of how physical therapy can positively impact individuals from all walks of life. Frank ultimately devoted himself to pursuing a deeper understanding of physical therapy, leading him to earn his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Azusa Pacific University.

Throughout his clinical experience, Frank has treated a wide range of orthopedic patients across varying age groups and activity levels along with diverse post-operative care as well. His patient population has included collegiate/ high school athletes, recreational “weekend warriors,” individuals working from home with posture- and mobility-related concerns, everyday gym-goers striving to stay active, and geriatric patients working to improve strength, balance, and overall function. This diverse experience has allowed him to develop an individualized treatment approach tailored to each patient’s specific goals, lifestyle demands, and stage of recovery.

Frank’s treatment approach incorporates soft tissue massage, joint mobilizations, functional movement exercises, return-to-sport testing, and creating individualized exercise programming tailored to optimize recovery and performance to meet each patient’s goals and needs. He strongly emphasizes developing a strong muscle-to-mind connection during rehabilitation, helping patients better understand movement patterns, body awareness, and long-term injury prevention strategies.

Outside of the clinic, Frank continues to stay active through playing basketball and volleyball while also focusing on his own strength training and rehabilitation. His personal commitment to fitness and injury management allows him to better relate to his patients and reinforces his belief in practicing what he preaches. He is passionate about combining evidence-based treatment, movement education, and individualized care to help patients return to the activities they love and build confidence in their bodies.
